No CET For Arts, Science, Commerce Colleges

Maharashtra: Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant says, There will be No Common Entrance Test (CET) for Non-Professional Courses in Maharashtra. Students can take admission on the basis of  marks achieved by the students in 12th class examination.

"The results of Class XII examination have been declared and admission to the first year degree course of traditional non-professional courses in colleges affiliated to non-agricultural universities will be on the basis of Class XII marks only and no Common Entrance Test (CET) will be conducted for this", says Uday Samant.

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has declared the HSC (12th class) examination result on Tuesday August 03, 2021 at 4 PM. The state board declared the result on the basis of performance in past 3 years. This year a total of  99.63% of students successfully passed/cleared the 2021 HSC board  examination.

"A meeting was held today regarding the decision regarding the joint common entrance examination for admission to various non-professional courses after 12th standard. At this time, Principal Secretary Director, Vice Chancellor of all non-agricultural universities and concerned were present", says Samant.

Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant yesterday said that, "an important doubt in this is that of the students and the parents of the students that, Are you going to give CET to Arts, Science & Commerce in the same way as CET was given for 11th admission after passing 10th? Such students had doubts. The students have stated that they should not take the CET because there is doubt as to whether it will take at least two - two & a half months to do the CET after the results of Class XII. The Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant held a meeting of the Vice-Chancellor  through department that is clear and decided that, the admission will start from tomorrow only based on the result of the class 12th board.

It has been decided that while colleges that have autonomy will conduct admissions at their level, this year even non-autonomous colleges can conduct admissions to undergraduate courses at their level by inviting applications and based on merit considering Class XII results
